Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 26, 2026

1. Introduction

Retail Scan & Stock is a mobile app for inventory counting and simple order management. The app is local-first: your core data is stored on your device so you can work without an internet connection. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Local data on your device

Stored only on your phone or tablet: products, suppliers, inventory counts, and app settings.

2.2 Cloud data (only if you sign in with email or Google)

If you use cloud features, we may process: your email address, a device identifier, and app usage analytics to understand how the product is used.

2.3 What we do not collect

We do not collect: precise location, your contacts, your photos, payment card details, or your general browsing history outside the app.

3. Why we collect it

  • Local data: to run the app-counting stock, managing suppliers, and saving your preferences.
  • Cloud data: to identify your account and to use analytics so we can improve the product.

4. Third-party services

We use services that process data on our behalf:

Third-party data sources

The Retail Scan & Stock app includes a barcode lookup feature that suggests product information when you scan a barcode. The underlying product database is sourced from Open Food Facts, an open and collaborative database of food, beverage, and consumer products. Data is provided by Open Food Facts contributors and is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).

When a suggestion from this database is shown in the app, an attribution indicator and link to the Open Food Facts website are displayed. You can read more about Open Food Facts at https://world.openfoodfacts.org/ and about the ODbL license at https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/.

The barcode lookup feature does not transmit any of your personal or business data to Open Food Facts. The product database is hosted on our own infrastructure and refreshed periodically from publicly available Open Food Facts dumps.

Crash and error reporting

We use Sentry, a service provided by Functional Software, Inc. (operating as Sentry), to collect crash reports and error diagnostics from production builds of the Retail Scan & Stock mobile app. This helps us identify and fix bugs that affect app stability.

What is sent to Sentry when an error occurs in the app:

  • Error message and stack trace (code-level diagnostic information)
  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and build number
  • A randomly generated installation identifier
  • Technical breadcrumbs such as navigation events between screens

What we filter out before sending:

  • Your product catalog, barcodes, stock counts, supplier information, purchase orders, receiving records, and write-off records
  • Your email address and authentication identity beyond a user identifier
  • Console logs from the app
  • Network request bodies that may contain business data
  • IP address, cookies, and user agent string

Crash reporting is active only in production builds installed from the app store. It is disabled in development builds.

Sentry retains crash data according to its own data retention policy. Sentry processes data in the United States and the European Union. You can read more in Sentry's privacy policy at https://sentry.io/privacy/.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in maintaining the stability and security of the app.

5. Data retention

  • Local data stays on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
  • Cloud data is deleted when you delete your account using the in-app option.

6. Your rights

You can access, export, or delete your data from Settings in the app, where available. For any privacy question, contact us at the email below.

Step-by-step information about deleting your account and related cloud data is on our Account deletion page.

7. Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you through the app when we make material changes.
